Elena Ferrante describes the act of writing as putting our most primal voice into a suit of words. And if writing means arranging signs to capture what we manage to perceive of reality and its impact on our inner world, then writing and drawing are two sides of the same coin. Both are flawed attempts to guide the hand in giving meaning to something that has none, and in the process, letting fragments of reality slip overboard. And yet, this net we call language is somehow able to hold the weight of our existence.
